You can run the rapids of Neversink River in the vicinity of Highland Lake, and after a long day outdoors Wurtsboro - Days Inn is a magnificent place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. On a great day at Highland Lake you can take a hike along the Peenpack Trail, and what would winter be without some skiing at Mt. Peter. Camping is available at Korn's Shawangunk; since you're here and you like       golf, you can take a look at Green Ridge Golf Club. Highland Lake is a relatively wet place usually with lots of rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is February. A good sight of scenic Sayers Hill is available from Highland Lake; if you came for an overnight stay Otisville Camp Grounds is a good site to camp. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Hidden Valley if you're here; if you've had enough of Highland                  Lake, Lake Pocatello is close by. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. A perfect place for whitewater paddling close to Highland Lake is Sandburg Creek, and Middletown - Days Inn is a fine place to get some rest. Summertime highs at Highland Lake typically tend to be in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Highland Lake. This lake is so wonderful.
