Higby Twin Ponds is a splendid location to visit for more than one day, Nicks Lake Campgrounds is a splendid location to camp nearby; there are other places here than Higby Twin Ponds, for example Loon Lake. An average amount of rain falls at Higby Twin Ponds; August is the month that gets the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. During the summer months at Higby Twin Ponds       highs are mostly in the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are usually in the 20's with temperatures at Higby Twin Ponds dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. This place, the Adirondack Mountains, has so much outdoors fun things. Take a side visit to Gun Harbor Brook; not far from Higby Twin Ponds you'll stumble on Mud Pond which is a beautiful lake. There is a good hiking                  trail next to Higby Twin Ponds called the Salmon Lake Trail, and a trip to nearby Gun Harbor is very relaxing. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. OLD Forge Camping Resort is a great local campground, and going for a hike on the Norridge Trail is always a magnificent adventure. And that's not all you can do here at Higby Twin Ponds. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Oswegatchie River - East Branch, and there are magnificent places to explore along the Big Deer Pond Trail. So much cool stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not sufficient time. Really brilliant skiing awaits you at McCauley Mountain; there are some great whitewater spots on Oswegatchie River - East Branch. This lake is so wonderful.
