If you are traveling by, why not stop by Grassy Pond. This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Indian River for all you adrenaline people, and there's great hiking along the Northville Lake Placid Trail. So many amusing things to do here at Grassy Pond, too wonderful to be true. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Rock River, and the Sucker Brook Trail offers hiking at

| | its best. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Grassy Pond has to offer, you can camp at Cedar Pond Campground, and getting to Donnelly Brook from Grassy Pond is easy. Just can't get enough of the Adirondack Mountains. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Grassy Pond; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here; February on the other hand is the driest. and most likely you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Little Grassy Pond is just a very short distance away. And that's not all you can do here in the Adirondack Mountains. There's so much to do here at Grassy Pond that you need
to camp here for a while, Hoss's Country Campground is a nice site for that, and if you've had enough of Grassy Pond, First Lake is close by. During the warmest time of the year highs here at Grassy Pond get into the 70's; during
summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are generally in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Grassy Pond.

 | Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
