From Grass Pond you acquire a perfect sight of Slide Mountain, and Saranac River - North Branch is a fine whitewater spot close by. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. That right there is a heap of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Adirondack Mountains has it all. Not far from Grass Pond, you'll stumble on Moose Pond which is a gorgeous lake, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Whiteface Mountain if you're

| | here. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Grass Pond without first going for a hike along the McKenzie Pond Trail, and Pioneer Village is a tremendous campground nearby. This is a popular place for people from Malone. You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Adirondack Mountains. There's wonderful hiking along the Indian Pass Trail; if you need a spot to stay Swiss Acres Inn is a tremendous choice. | |

This lake is so wonderful. Grass Pond is a tremendous place to visit for more than one day, Adirondak Loj is a tremendous place to camp nearby. Lakes are great; Bartlett Pond is a lake that's close to Grass Pond. If you want a pleasant
time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Grass Pond. What would winter be without some skiing at Mount Pisgah, and you can run the rapids of Ausable River - West Branch. Good hiking is available along the Schwartz Trail, and
dry warm beds await you at The Whiteface Lodge. The high level of rainfall makes Grass Pond a rather wet place; the month with most of the rain is August, and February is the month with the least moisture. For the duration of
the summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Grass Pond, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are generally in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Grass Pond.

Silver Lake Mountain Trail

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained. A little effort can go a long way...... |
