Beautiful Glencoma Lake has much to offer visitors. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a good spot to camp, and there are some glorious whitewater spots on Popolopen Creek. Camping is available at Camp Kiwi, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Wappinger Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Mahopac Point is not far from Glencoma Lake at all; close by you come across the Appalachian National Scenic Trail

| | which is a perfect hiking trail. If you're dropping by Glencoma Lake from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, you won't be the only one, and if you need a location to stay Holiday Inn Mt. Kisco (Westchester Cty),Ny is a great choice. That right there is a heap already, but it carries on; Glencoma Lake has it all. Dixon Lake
 | ...in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Aust... |
Secor Lake

The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!... |
