     Gillespie Pond is a spot with many visitors from Rutland, and Gillespie Pond is right by the Glen Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Gillespie Pond has to offer, you can camp at Bomoseen State Park Campground, and the Bomoseen Hiking Loop offers hiking at its best. Stay the night at Camp Catherine Capers, and a lake nearby is Melvin Pond.
The annual rain here at Gillespie Pond is about average; August
 
   is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is February. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Mettawee River; golf can be played at Lake St Catherine Country Club. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Browns Pond is a nearby lake that you could take a look at, and The Equinox is a great place to get some rest.
For the duration of the summer at Gillespie Pond temperatures are mostly in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures
 
               are in the 50's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's while Gillespie Pond overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Poultney River; do take a hike on the Half Moon Pond Trail.
