here for a while, Sylvan Lake Beach Park is a delightful spot for that. Dry warm beds await you at Royal Inn, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Wappinger Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along
the Appalachian National Scenic Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region; if you need a site to stay Le Chambord is a glorious choice. If the weather is wonderful here at Gem Lake, you can go for a hike along the
Stillwell Lake Trail, and Gem Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a good local campground. Nearby lakes? Sure, John Pond is right next door to Gem Lake, and during your trip here you'll meet some people from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown for sure.
