Near Gem Lake you locate the Appalachian National Scenic Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. There's so much to do here at Gem Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sylvan Lake Beach Park is a brilliant location for that. If you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Express FISHKILL is a pleasant choice, and if you came to camp Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a delightful spot to do       that. Get wet paddling on Popolopen Creek, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to close by Gayhead Pond. This spot is unbeatable, just explore all the exciting stuff to do near Gem Lake. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Branton Woods Golf Club is close at hand, and hey, Gotta ski right? Thunder Ridge is a nice spot to do that. During the summer months here at Gem Lake, high temperatures generally get into                  the 80's while night lows are generally in the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and night lows throughout the winter for Gem Lake tend to be in the 10's. Dry warm beds await you at Le Chambord. Lakes are splendid; John Pond is a lake that's next to Gem Lake. Paddling on Wappinger Creek is so much fun; the view of Hosner Mountain is lovely. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Stillwell Lake Trail is always a good adventure.
