Franklin Falls Pond gets a great deal of water; through August this area sees the most rain while February is mostly the driest month. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Adirondack Mountains. Pond near Franklin Falls Pond, and on a great day you can take a hike along the McKenzie Pond Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Saranac River offers some great whitewater, and a glorious nearby
hotel is Comfort Inn Lake Placid. If you came for an overnight stay Adirondak Loj is a good spot to camp, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Schwartz Trail. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful.
So many enjoyable things in the Adirondack Mountains, just remarkable. If you need a location to stay Mirror Lake Inn is a fine choice, and unsurprisingly Hough Brook flows through this neighborhood. So many enjoyable things
right next door to Franklin Falls Pond, clearly tremendous. A trip to Seberts Point in the neighborhood of Franklin Falls Pond is always a good idea. There are some glorious whitewater spots on Ausable River - West Branch, and there
is a brilliant hiking trail nearby called the Silver Lake Mountain Trail. Do check out Grass Pond near Franklin Falls Pond, it's a pretty lake, and you can never get enough of the good skiing at Mount Pisgah.

Silver Lake Mountain Trail

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained. A little effort can go a long way...... |
