    In New York there are many beautiful lakes, Francis Lake is one of them. Near Francis Lake you find the Salmon Lake Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail. Francis Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Moose River Camp Grounds is a tremendous local campground, and whitewater paddling is great on Beaver River. This lake is so wonderful. Skiing at Snow Ridge is one of those things you just should do; there's some flowing water close by, Alder  
   Creek is a stream you can take a look at while here.
At Francis Lake through the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Francis Lake are in the 0's. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Woodwardia Pond; going for a hike on the Post Henderson Trail is always a good adventure.
 
               The yearly rainfall here at Francis Lake is about average; most of the rain falls through August, and the driest month of the year is February.
You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at McCauley Mountain if you're here; you can go for a hike on the Norridge Trail. Having a great time at Francis Lake is uncomplicated. There's so much to do here at Francis Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Cold Brook Campsites is a good place for that. Lakes? Sure, Beaver Lake is close by.

85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots....
