In New York there are many beautiful lakes, Forestport Reservoir is one of them. During your trip to Forestport Reservoir you'll meet some folks from Utica-Rome for sure, and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Twin Lakes Trail. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Forestport Reservoir you can play some golf at Alder Creek Golf Course & Country Inn, and after a long day outdoors Red Roof Inn Utica is a brilliant spot to spend a night

| | or two. Be careful coming to the Adirondack Mountains, you might not ever want to go home again. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Forestport Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Cold Brook Campsites; the Forty Mountain Trail is a pleasant hiking trail close by. rain, and February is when it's the driest. So many amusing things to do here at Forestport Reservoir, too great to be true. Gotta ski! Woods Valley is a tremendous spot to do that, and there's whitewater on Little Woodhull Creek
for all you thrill seekers. That right there is lots of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Adirondack Mountains has it all. Not far from Forestport Reservoir, you'll discover Kernan Pond which is a charming lake; what
would winter be without some skiing at McCauley Mountain. A great close by hotel is Super 8 Motel - Utica; on a great day you can take a hike along the Stone Dam Trail. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Woodhull Creek.
This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Doe Pond, and you can stay the night at Kayuta Lake Campground. Summertime highs at Forestport Reservoir commonly tend to be in
the 70's, and the night is fairly cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's; nighttime lows in the 0's for Forestport Reservoir.

Forty Mountain Trail
 | 10 miles away Since 2001, it has become a bushwhack and can be close to impossible in the spring and summer to find the blazes that indicate the trail. Wet seasons can make the slopes tretcherous, and the trail dissapears at the base of the mountain. One must plot a compass course or use a GPS. The summit offers limited views of the Black River area of the southwestern Adirondacks. Watch for black bears, as they are numerous in this region.... |
