Good hiking is available along the Van Hoevenberg Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Whispering Pines Campground is a magnificent site to camp. You're in all probability keen on lakes, Second Pond is one of those close by, and hey, LeClaire Brook is a great local stream. First Pond is a beautiful lake in the Adirondack Mountains. First Pond gets a typical       amount of yearly rainfall; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is February. This is a fine region for folks who like lakes. Boreas Ponds is a lake in the neighborhood. So much fun stuff to do at First Pond, so little time. Paddling on John's Brook is so much fun, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Gore Mountain is relatively near. This lake is so wonderful. One of the principal characteristics of the surroundings of First Pond                  is Moose Mountain; you can go for a hike on the Dividing Ridge Trail. Going for a hike on the Elk Lake Marcy Trail is always a good adventure; Whiteface Mountain is a nice local ski area. These mountains rock, just explore all the amusing things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. If you need a spot to stay Courtyard Lake Placid is a nice choice, and Shearer's Riverside Campsite is a great local campground. If you want a nice time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Adirondack Mountains. Boreas River - Upper has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby, and Econo Lodge Lake Placid is a fine place to get some rest. Through the warmest time of the year here at First Pond, high temperatures typically reach the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's.
