This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Salmon Lake Trail is wonderful fun; East Bay is not far at all. High temperatures at First Lake through the months of summer are in the 70's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are regularly in the 20's while First Lake nighttime low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. This place, the       Adirondack Mountains, has so much outdoors amusing stuff. Get your heart beating on the fine whitewater of Moose River - South Branch, and First Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, OLD Forge Camping Resort is a fine local campground. This lake is so wonderful. A golf course close to First Lake is Thendara Golf Club, and a delightful nearby hotel is Knights Inn Little Falls. Bald Mountain is a peak you can see from First Lake; if you get bored of                  First Lake you could also check out close by Second Lake. Going for a hike along the Twin Lakes Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. But wait, there's more to do near First Lake. Take a hike on the Norridge Trail; camping at Nicks Lake Campgrounds is always a delightful experience. So many fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not enough time. You can run the rapids of Black River - South Branch close to First Lake, and Bald Mountain Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at. Some of the water close by flows, like Fly Pond Outlet, and the snow is glorious at McCauley Mountain. First Lake gets a lot of water; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
