Fern Lake is located in the Adirondack Mountains. There's so much to do here at Fern Lake that you need to camp here for a while, North Pole Campground is a glorious location for that, and you'll stumble on a wonderful lake called Slush Pond. You clearly have to have a thing about the Adirondack Mountains. There's great hiking along the Weston Trail; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend       Black River. These mountains rock, just explore all the entertaining stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Fern Lake Mountain is simple to spot from Fern Lake, and nearby you find Beaver Point. What would winter be without some skiing at Whiteface Mountain; since you're here, you could also explore beautiful Black Brook Pond. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Fern Lake has to offer, you can camp at High Peaks Base Camp; Bear Swamp is                  a swamp close to Fern Lake. Summertime highs at Fern Lake generally tend to be in the 70's. Summer night lows dip down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's; overnight lows at Fern Lake through the wintertime generally drop into the 0's. From a rainfall point of view Fern Lake is a relatively common site; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Fern Lake without first going for a hike along the Schwartz Trail; if you're visiting from Plattsburgh, you won't be the only one. And if that's not sufficient, there's lots more to do near Fern Lake. If you're here at Fern Lake and you like golf, you can pop by Indole Golf Course, and dry warm beds await you at Microtel Inn and Suites Plattsburgh. This lake is so wonderful.
