Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things in the Adirondack Mountains. You'll locate a stunning lake called Elbow Ponds near Elm Pond, and the peak of Catamount can be made out from Elm Pond. A nice location to camp here at Elm Pond is Donaldson George A and Sons; don't forget to take a tremendous little visit to Elbow Brook. All the water falling down from the sky makes Elm Pond a wet place; through the month of August you get the most rain around here,

| | and the driest month is February. Camping is available at Pioneer Village; you can go for a hike on the Silver Lake Mountain Trail. There are some nice whitewater spots on Salmon River; you can hit the slopes at Mount Pisgah around here. For the duration of the warmest time of the year at Elm Pond temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's while night lows are commonly in the 50's. explore beautiful Fishhole Pond. So much fun stuff to do at Elm Pond, so little time. If you come at the right time of year, Saranac River - North Branch offers some good whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. Lots of people from
Malone come to Elm Pond, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Titus Mountain. So many entertaining things in the Adirondack Mountains, just unbelievable. If you need a place to stay Woodlake Inn is a
brilliant choice, and going for a hike on the Schwartz Trail is always a great adventure. Just can't get enough of Elm Pond. Horse Head Point is close by and always glorious to take a look at; nearby you find the McKenzie Pond Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail.

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained. A little effort can go a long way...... |
