This lake is so wonderful. The panorama of Catamount from Elbow Ponds is pretty, and Titus Mountain has great slopes and a friendly staff. after a long day outdoors Woodlake Inn is a splendid spot to spend a night or two. Take a hike on the Schwartz Trail, and a fine nearby hotel is THE HOTEL SARANAC. Elbow Ponds is one of the lakes here in the Adirondack Mountains.
You're probably into lakes, Elm Pond is one of those close by; there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Mount Pisgah. Elbow Ponds sees pretty high levels of rain; the month with most of the rain is August, and
February is when it's the driest. If you like the outdoors you'll like it here in the Adirondack Mountains. Saranac River - North Branch is a brilliant whitewater spot in the vicinity of Elbow Ponds, and Elbow Ponds is right by the
McKenzie Pond Trail. And if that's not enough, there's loads more to do near Elbow Ponds. Hiking along the Silver Lake Mountain Trail is perfect fun, and if you're here, do take a visit to Horse Head Point.

Silver Lake Mountain Trail

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained.
