All the water falling down from the sky makes Echo Lake a wet site; the month with most of the rain is May, and January on the other hand is the driest. A pleasant place to camp here at Echo Lake is Camp Echo Lake, and if you need a place to stay Comfort Inn & Suites is a glorious choice. At Echo Lake you always meet someone from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, and after a long day outdoors Edith       Macy Conference Center is a nice location to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Thunder Ridge. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Echo Lake. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are mostly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Echo Lake are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.                  Go for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail; if you come at the right time of year, Popolopen Creek offers some fine whitewater. Good hiking is available along the Suffern-Bear Mountain Trail; Echo Lake is brilliant enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Discovery is a brilliant local campground. Don't leave Echo Lake without first going for a hike along the Stillwell Lake Trail, and do stop by Still Lake, it's a picturesque lake. Any time is a fine time at Echo Lake if you adore the outdoors.
