Good hiking is available along the Phoenicia Trail; a golf course nearby is Rip Van Winkle Country Club. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Catskill Mountains. You'll stumble on a striking lake called Kingston Reservoir Number Four near Echo Lake; going for a hike on the Willow Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Devils Kitchen is a nice site to stretch your legs a       bit. There's so much to do here at Echo Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Rip Van winkle Campgrounds is a great spot for that. The yearly rainfall here at Echo Lake is about average; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while February is ordinarily the driest month. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Echo Lake has to offer, you can camp at Saugerties/Woodstock KOA, and if you need a site to stay Hotel Mountain                  Brook is a brilliant choice. That right there is plenty already, but it keeps on going; Echo Lake has it all. Very stunning scenery and delightful skiing is what you get at Windham Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Spruceton Trail; here at Echo Lake you can see Indian Head Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid spot for whitewater paddling right next door to Echo Lake is Plattekill Creek, and a picturesque lake like Kingston Reservoir Number Two is a great location to go to. This lake is one of the great places here in the Catskill Mountains. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Echo Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while Echo Lake nighttime low temperatures through the winter are in the 0's. Gotta ski! Hunter Mountain is a good spot to do that; Echo Lake is a site with many visitors from Kingston. And that's not all you can do here at Echo Lake.
