The peak of Black Cat Mountain can be observed from Duck Pond. Throughout the days of summer at Duck Pond highs are ordinarily in the 70's, and the night is quite chillier of course, typically in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Duck Pond are in the 0's. for close by lakes? Sure, Duck Ponds is just a very short distance away. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Adirondack Mountains rules! If the weather is great here at Duck Pond, you can go for a hike along the Silver Lake
Mountain Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Percy Campground is a great site to camp. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff near Duck Pond will keep you coming back time and again. Salmon River is a brilliant whitewater spot
right next door to Duck Pond, and why not camp at Deer River Campsites while you're here at Duck Pond. Duck Pond is a rather wet place mostly with a good deal of rain; most of the rain falls all through August, and February meanwhile is the driest month.

Silver Lake Mountain Trail

Silver lake mountain trail head is found on Silver lake Road, which intersects with NY Route 3 about 23 miles west of Plattsburgh [near Clayburg]. Go south on Silver Lake Road for about 10 miles, find the marked trailhead on the left side of the road. This is a short somewhat steep hike with a beautiful view from the top. Well worth the effort....Silver Lake Mt. is a glorious hike. Its not too difficult for the amateur hikers and has a few trails off to the side that are a bit more difficult and fun for the experienced hikers. Its a great place for a family or business day retreat and provides phenomenal views of the North Countries natural beauty. Enjoy the trail but remember to keep it clean and well maintained. A little effort can go a long way...... |
