If you come at the right time of year, Boreas River - Upper offers some nice whitewater, and       Econo Lodge Lake Placid is a great location to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Duck Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Smoke Rise Campsites is a magnificent spot for that; going for a hike along the Van Hoevenberg Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. So many entertaining things in the Adirondack Mountains, just unbelievable.                  If you need a place to stay Courtyard Lake Placid is a great choice, and do take a hike on the Elk Lake Marcy Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Green Mountain is clearly visible from Duck Pond. For the period of the long summer days, highs usually are in the 70's at Duck Pond with nighttime lows in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Duck Pond. And that's not all the things you can do here in the Adirondack Mountains. A lake nearby is Hewitt Pond, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Boreas River.
