Mount Pisgah is a very popular ski area close at hand; lots of people from Plattsburgh come here. During the warm months, highs commonly are in the 70's at Dow Pond. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's; overnight lows at Dow Pond all through the winter ordinarily plunge into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful.       In case you don’t mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Saranac River. This lake is so wonderful. There is a splendid hiking trail right next door to Dow Pond called the Silver Lake Mountain Trail, and Dow Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, North Pole Campground is a great local campground. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Adirondack Mountains. You'll hit upon a striking lake called Barnes Pond near Dow Pond; if                  you need a place to stay Mirror Lake Inn is a great choice. Any time is a great time at Dow Pond if you adore the outdoors. Whiteface Mountain has good slopes and a friendly staff; close by you stumble on the Schwartz Trail which is a good hiking trail. But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. If you're here at Dow Pond, you could go to Bernau Brook; if you came to camp Douglas Corp Of Silver Lake is a great place to do that. Dow Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month is February. A good close by hotel is The Whiteface Lodge, and from Dow Pond you obtain a good vista of Haystack Knob.
