There's so much to do here at Deer Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Echo Lake is a delightful site for that, and the skiing at Thunder Ridge is delightful. Go for a hike on the Stillwell Lake Trail. Deer Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is commonly May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is January. This lake is so wonderful. | | to Deer Pond, and if you come at the right time of year, Popolopen Creek offers some great whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. People from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown love to come to Deer Pond, and the top of Cat Hill is easily distinguished from Deer Pond. going for a hike on the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is always a delightful adventure. While you're here at Deer Pond, you could also go to pretty Journeys End Lake, and if you need a spot to stay Holiday Inn MT. KISCO (WESTCHESTER
COUNTY) is a magnificent choice. Croton Dam has great water scenery and it's close to Deer Pond, and you can stay the night at Camp Discovery. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Deer Pond. Once the sun is down it falls down to
the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Deer Pond temperatures dip to the 10's.

 | 10 miles away ...the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin ... |
