Long Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Post Henderson Trail. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Oswegatchie River - Middle Branch, and you can make out Bald Mountain from Deer Pond. This lake is so wonderful. A quick tour to Burning Creek next to Deer Pond is a glorious idea; a good swamp       close to Deer Pond is Bear Swamp. The yearly precipitation here at Deer Pond is about average; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is February. Stay the night at Natural Bridge/Watertown KOA, and there is a pleasant hiking trail nearby called the Salmon Lake Trail. After a long day outdoors Stillwater Motel is a great place to spend a night or two. So much fun stuff to do here at Deer Pond, too magnificent to be true.                  If you need a location to stay Pinecone Restaurant is a great choice, and Deer Pond is a fine spot to camp, Natural Bridge K O A Camp Ground is a fine spot. Throughout the summer months at Deer Pond highs are mostly in the 80's; the night is rather chillier of course, regularly in the 50's.
