Whispering Pines Campground is a great campground nearby; dry warm beds await you at Courtyard Lake Placid. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Deer Pond. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at Deer Pond dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. And if that's not enough there's loads more exciting       things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Really nice skiing awaits you at Whiteface Mountain, and whitewater paddling is delightful on Boreas River - Upper. That right there is a load already, but it goes on; Deer Pond has it all. LeClaire Brook is one of the streams nearby that might be worth a visit, and the Elk Lake Marcy Trail offers hiking at its best. This lake is so wonderful. Deer Pond is a good place to visit for more than one day, Adirondak Loj                  is a good place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Econo Lodge Lake Placid is a glorious choice, and paddling on John's Brook is so much fun. Now, you may think that's a heap but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. You can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at Gore Mountain, and hiking along the Van Hoevenberg Trail is splendid fun. At Deer Pond you can distinguish Cheney Cobble, and Deer Pond is right by the Dividing Ridge Trail. Deer Pond is one of the lakes here in the Adirondack Mountains.
