You can run the rapids of Callicoon Creek - North Branch close to Deer Lake, and Deer Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Twin Islands Campsite is a fine local campground. Visiting Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and Campbell Inn is a glorious spot to get some rest. Callicoon Creek - East Branch is a fine whitewater spot close to Deer Lake,       and the Schiff Trail is a great hiking trail nearby. A glorious place to camp here at Deer Lake is Butternut Grove Campsite. The high level of rainfall makes Deer Lake a reasonably wet spot; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is February. This lake is so wonderful.
