    In New York there are many beautiful lakes, Dean Pond is one of them. After a long day outdoors Le Chambord is a good site to spend a night or two, and Dean Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a great local campground. All through the summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Dean Pond. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are regularly in  
   the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Dean Pond. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Dean Pond. Camping at Camp Kiwi is always a great experience, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Tenmile.
You'll come across a pretty lake called Lake Carmel near Dean Pond; you'll perhaps meet some people from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here. This lake is so wonderful. Near Dean Pond you find the Appalachian National Scenic Trail
 
               which is a splendid hiking trail; a stunning lake like Palmer Lake is a perfect place to visit. Thunder Ridge is a delightful local ski area; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Horse Pound Brook.
This lake is so wonderful. There are some good whitewater spots on Ten Mile River. A normal amount of precipitation falls here at Dean Pond; throughout May this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. If you need a place to stay Hilton Garden Inn Danbury is a good choice, and Centennial Golf Club of New York is a golf course nearby.

Dixon Lake
... the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin...

Secor Lake
Do you have any pictures of camp henry?  My father went there in the 1920's.  The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!...

Lounsbury Pond is in Blue Mountain Reservation and not really that close to the Appalachian Trail or Beaver Pond. Sterling Forest is about 45 minutes away. You cannot camp at Blue Mountain Reservation. Stillwater Lake is in Putnam County and the trail near it is unmarked and not named....
