Crystal Lake is a good spot of typical rainfall; August is when you get the most rain here while February is ordinarily the driest month. Just can't get enough of the Adirondack Mountains. Get your heart beating on the great whitewater of Oswegatchie River - Middle Branch; Robinson's Iga is a perfect campground nearby. High temperatures at Crystal Lake through the warmest time of the year are in the 70's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in

And if that's not enough there's a load more cool stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Have a wonderful hiking adventure along the Post Henderson Trail; if you get bored of Crystal Lake you could also stop at nearby Pansy Pond. but if it's for you then we recommend Little River, and the skiing at McCauley Mountain is glorious. Visit Bassetts Creek since you're here at Crystal Lake, and Francis Hill is a peak you can distinguish from Crystal Lake. Going
for a hike along the Salmon Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and a golf course nearby is Sayles John M Memorial Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. If

Oswegatchie River - East Branch
 | Would you please let me know what the kyaking conditions are from Inlet Road to the village of Wanakena. I am going to be at Wanakena this coming weekend and am considering kyaking from Inlet Road to Wanakena. Please let me know if the water level is high enough to float with limited carries. Also, the group consists of limited experienced kyakers. I noticed from Google Satelite photos that there seems to be sections of white water - I am not sure what season the photo is from but one phots seems to be from summer and another closer to Wanakena, Spring with considerable runoff. I noticed from your description above that it is class II-IV Water. Please describe the degree of difficulty in general for that distance, and if coming into class IV areas are they visible and easily avoided by carries. If so, how long and difficult are the carries, and how many ? Your information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rick McCurdy... |

I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots.... |
