     Whitewater paddling is fine on Popolopen Creek, and Mohansic Lake is a delightful lake close by. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors exciting things the area in the vicinity of Crom Pond has to offer. Holiday Inn MT. KISCO (WESTCHESTER COUNTY) is a nice place to get some rest; why not camp at Camp Discovery if you're here at Crom Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Sanctuary Country Club, and  
   there are plenty of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here at Crom Pond. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Crom Pond; Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a good local trail, and dry warm beds await you at Edith Macy Conference Center.
The skiing at Thunder Ridge is pleasant, and if you came for an overnight stay Camp Kiwi is a delightful place to camp. The Stillwell Lake Trail offers hiking at its best, and lakes
 
               are such peaceful places, why not explore Sparkle Lake. Crom Pond gets a great deal of water; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Get drenched paddling on Wappinger Creek, and one of the principal characteristics of the surroundings of Crom Pond is French Hill. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Crom Pond. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. During the winter the highs are regularly in the 30's, and night lows during the winter for Crom Pond tend to be in the 10's.

Do you have any pictures of camp henry?  My father went there in the 1920's.  The land was sold a while ago and now has a housing development on it....Lillian Wald had a camp on secor lake .Camp Henry.i am fortune enough to have been born on the block where Lillian started the henry street settlement. I am a 49yr who spent 10 summers of my life on lake secor 67-76..Actually I live in the settlement for 3 1/2 yrs. Amazing!...

Lounsbury Pond
Lounsbury Pond is in Blue Mountain Reservation and not really that close to the Appalachian Trail or Beaver Pond. Sterling Forest is about 45 minutes away. You cannot camp at Blue Mountain Reservation. Stillwater Lake is in Putnam County and the trail near it is unmarked and not named....

Dixon Lake
...es ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin rd elem.my age...
