     This lake is so wonderful. Glide down the rapids of Moose River - South Branch in a kayak, and pleasant skiing awaits you at McCauley Mountain. And if that's not sufficient there's lots more entertaining stuff to do in the Adirondack Mountains. A day at Silver Beach next to Cranberry Pond is time well spent, and Lower Pond is a good lake close by. Cranberry Pond is a wet spot that gets a large amount of precipitation; August is when you get the most rain here,  
   and the driest month is February.
Cranberry Pond is located in the Adirondack Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Cranberry Pond has to offer, you can camp at Browns Tract Pond State Campground, and hiking along the Big Deer Pond Trail is nice fun. Now, you may imagine that's a lot but there's even more cool stuff to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. Cranberry Pond is right by the Norridge Trail, and
 
               there's some flowing water close by, Sucker Brook is a stream you can pop by while you're here.
Just can't get enough of Cranberry Pond. There's so much to do here at Cranberry Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Tioga Point State Campground is a brilliant site for that, and the top of Wadsworth Mountain is easily seen from Cranberry Pond. If you need a place to stay Knights Inn Little Falls is a great choice. You ought to go to Clarks Point when you're here at Cranberry Pond; you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Ash Pond Trail.
Lakes? Sure, Pelcher Pond is nearby; get yourself into a kayak and hit Indian River. High temperatures at Cranberry Pond during the days of summer are in the 70's with night lows in the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are frequently in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Cranberry Pond are in the 0's.

Hell Diver Pond is a pretty little body of water located in the Moose River Recreation Area of the Adirondacks. The hike back to it is easy and short. Hell Diver is well worth the walk....

Terror Lake
...The Carthage road went up the Beaver river drainage. Two brothers got lost up in the ridges above Terror Lake. Almost died. They found the lake and named it after their nights of terror. Guys used to hunt there in the fly in days. The last last guy to go there was a drainage ditch runner. Calls himself PH. Take his advice. It's a long way in and you MUST know the woods and be a woodsman. There are plenty of blow downs to go through overland. The way to go is via the end of Twitchell Lk. The Sisters who own the old Teahouse at the end of Twitchell are nice old girls. I saved their nephew one cold November night. They bought me some good whiskey. Anyway that's the way to get into Terror Lk. Follow the old trail into the South Branch Beaver River drainage. Head northeast for a good mile and keep the high ground to your right shoulder. Keep walking about 4 miles and make sure the big ridge is over your right shoulder. You can't miss the lake. There is an old ghost trail marked with blue soap can lids at the base of the ridge. Probably grown in by now. Don't need trails anyway. Use your M...

On 7/7/2009...
85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots....
