Cracker Pond is a lake worth visiting. Whitewater paddling is great on Oswegatchie River - East Branch; you'll meet a lot of folks from Ogdensburg-Massena here. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Cracker Pond; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Not far from Cracker Pond, you'll locate West Pond which is a striking lake, and going for a hike on the Salmon Lake Trail is always a brilliant

| | adventure. Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. There's so much to do here at Cracker Pond that you need to camp here for a while, OLD Forge Camping Resort is a tremendous spot for that; Oswegatchie River - East Branch has a perfect whitewater paddling spot close by. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. Looking for some flowing water? Try Robinson River. | |

Lakes are perfect; Gal Pond is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Cracker Pond. And if that's not sufficient there's loads more cool things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. McCauley Mountain has good slopes and a friendly staff,
and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the The Loop. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Cracker Pond has to offer, you can camp at Robinson's Iga. This lake is so wonderful.
One of the main marks of the surroundings of Cracker Pond is Deer Mountain, and on a nice day you can take a hike along the Big Deer Pond Trail. Cracker Pond is located in the Adirondack Mountains. All through the months of summer
here at Cracker Pond, high temperatures usually get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Cracker Pond.

Terror Lake
 | ... the Beaver river drainage. Two brothers got lost up in the ridges above Terror Lake. Almost died. They found the lake and named it after their nights of terror. Guys used to hunt there in the fly in days. The last last guy to go there was a drainage ditch runner. Calls himself PH. Take his advice. It's a long way in and you MUST know the woods and be a woodsman. There are plenty of blow downs to go through overland. The way to go is via the end of Twitchell Lk. The Sisters who own the old Teahouse at the end of Twitchell are nice old girls. I saved their nephew one cold November night. They bought me some good whiskey. Anyway that's the way to get into Terror Lk. Follow the old trail into the South Branch Beaver River drainage. Head northeast for a good mile and keep the high ground to your right shoulder. Keep walking about 4 miles and make sure the big ridge is over your right shoulder. You can't miss the lake. There is an old ghost trail marked with blue soap can lids at the base of the ridge.  | 1 PHOTO On 7/7/2009... 85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots.... |
