West Mountain is a perfect local ski area, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Sacandaga River. This site rules, just check out all the fun things to do near Cooks Pond. Stay the night at Adirondack Adventure Resorts, and there are some brilliant whitewater spots on Hudson River. Summertime at Cooks Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. When the night sets       in temperatures drop down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Cooks Pond fall into the 0's. There's some flowing water nearby, Gordon Creek is a stream you can check out while here; lots of folks from Albany-Schenectady-Troy come here. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cooks Pond a wet place; the wettest month of the year is frequently September, that's                  the one that rains the most, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. You could also have a look at Ballston Spa Reservoir while you're here at Cooks Pond; it's nearby, and Rock City Falls Mobil Villas is a fine campground here. After a long day outdoors Golden Motel is a nice location to spend a night or two, and next to Cooks Pond you discover a golf course called Ballston Spa Country Club. This lake is so wonderful.
