There are some perfect whitewater spots on Normans Kill River, and a lake close by is Iroquois Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Golf can be played at Hillcrest Golf Club, and there's whitewater on Mohawk River for all you thrill seekers. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Collins Lake has to offer, you can camp at Frosty Acres Campgrounds; a tremendous nearby hotel is Stockade Inn. There's just no way       someone can get bored here at Collins Lake. Parker Inn is a good place to get some rest; Iroquois Peninsula is pretty close. Stay the night at Arrowhead Marina and RV Park, and while you're here, you might as well go to Pleasant Valley. Collins Lake is a wet site that gets a good deal of precipitation; June is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is February. You could also take a look at Watervliet Reservoir since you're here at Collins Lake;                  it's close by, and you'll meet a lot of people from Albany-Schenectady-Troy here. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Collins Lake while overnight lows are typically in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Collins Lake sink into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful.
