After a long day outdoors Hotel Mountain Brook is a good site to spend a night or two, and not far from Colgate Lake you'll discover Lake Rip Van Winkle which is a beautiful lake. If you need a place to stay Hotel Vienna is a good choice; a good place to camp here at Colgate Lake is Doherty's Mountain Campground. This lake is so wonderful. If you're a golfer then a good nearby course is Colonial       Country Club, and since you're here, you could have a look at Halsey Brook. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Catskill Mountains is excellent! The panorama of Black Dome from Colgate Lake is wonderful, and magnificent hiking is available along the Phoenicia Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Catskill Creek, and you can hit the slopes at Hunter Mountain close by. Going for a hike on the Spruceton Trail                  is always a tremendous adventure, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Onteora Pond. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors cool things the Catskill Mountains has to offer. If you come at the right time of year, Plattekill Creek offers some splendid whitewater; camping is available at Torchlight Campsites. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Windham Mountain, and Star Rock is something you shouldn't miss since you're here. For the duration of the long summer days at Colgate Lake temperatures are typically in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 20's, and overnight lows at Colgate Lake through the winter generally fall into the 0's. If you love the outdoors, you'll adore Colgate Lake. Lots of folks from Kingston come to Colgate Lake; you can go for a hike on the Willow Trail. Having a pleasant time in the Catskill Mountains is simple.
