Cleveland Pond is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. Camping at Dingman's Campgrounds is always a good experience; what would winter be without some skiing at Catamount. For the period of the long summer days, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Cleveland Pond. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Cleveland Pond dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.

| | A wonderful place to camp here at Cleveland Pond is Alps Family Campground, and golf can be played at Burden Lake Country Club. There are other places here than Cleveland Pond, for example Lyons Pond, and a splendid swamp right next door to Cleveland Pond is Pine Swamp. Don't leave Cleveland Pond without first going for a hike along the Brickhouse Mountain Trail; lakes are such peaceful locations, why not explore Smith Pond. There's tremendous hiking along | |
| |
the Turner Trail; a tremendous close by hotel is Comfort Inn & Suites. This lake is so wonderful. The peak of Mashodack Hill can be seen from Cleveland Pond, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Jiminy Peak
while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Poesten Kill River, and you'll meet a lot of people from Hudson here. So many entertaining things to do at
Cleveland Pond, so little time. Just can't get enough of Cleveland Pond. There are great places to look at along the Taconic Skyline Trail, and if you need a location to stay Knights Inn Castleton on Hudson/Schodack is a good
choice. Cleveland Pond is a good location of common rain; most of the rain falls through June; February meanwhile is the driest month.

Kinderhook Creek
 | 12 miles away There is a lot to run on the Kinderhook above Valatie. In fact, it can be run all the way from above E. Nassau. At E. Nassau, a nice boulder garden class II-III proceeds, with water attractions all the way to Valatie. Getting out at Valatie is difficult but necessary before the dam....There are two impassable waterfalls 60 plus feet high about two miles south of the Valatie water fall. There is no viable way around these falls without climbing down steep cliffs. We stopped about a half mile above the two stuyvesant falls. My understanding is there are old mill dams before you get to stockport. Somebody gave you really bad dangerous info.... |
