Cat Lake is a lake worth visiting. Now, you may believe that's a load but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Adirondack Mountains. The Sucker Brook Trail offers hiking at its best, and obviously, this is a magnificent area for people who like lakes, Kings Pond is a lake in the vicinity. This lake is so wonderful. The high level of rainfall makes Cat Lake a rather wet place; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and February
| | | |
| | meanwhile is the driest month. Mud Creek is a glorious location to stop at, and whitewater paddling is nice on Indian River. In the event that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Moose River - South Branch. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Cat Lake has to offer, you can camp at Browns Tract Pond State Campground. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Cat Lake. Why not take a refreshing hike along | |

the Hamilton Mountain Fire Tower Trail; hey, Gotta ski right? McCauley Mountain is a delightful spot to do that. Summertime highs at Cat Lake commonly tend to be in the 70's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 50's. High temperatures
through the winter are normally in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Cat Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Cat Lake
is right by the Northville Lake Placid Trail, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by Sampson Lake. And if that's not sufficient there's lots more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains.
Stay the night at Tioga Point State Campground, and swamps are exciting locations and Sampson Bog in close proximity to Cat Lake is no exception.

Northville Lake Placid Trail
 | 19 miles away Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
