Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Wappinger Creek, and probably you're       looking for nearby lakes? Sure, West Branch Reservoir is just a very short distance away. This lake is so wonderful. There's nice hiking along the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, and Le Chambord is a perfect place to get some rest. If you're here at Lake Casse and you like golf, you can explore Mahopac Golf Club, and why not stop at Mahopac Point also while you're here. A delightful place to camp here at Lake Casse is Clarence Fahnestock State Park; Lake Casse                  is not far at all from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Lake Casse; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; overnight lows through the winter for Lake Casse tend to be in the 10's. Lake Casse is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Kiwi is a magnificent local campground, obviously you could also pop by Mud Pond if you're here; it's not far at all. Get your heart pumping on the fine whitewater of Tenmile.
