Go to Carter Pond if you want to go to a nice lake. From a precipitation point of view Carter Pond is a reasonably typical place; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is typically the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Hudson River for all you adrenaline kick people, and a magnificent nearby hotel is Copperfield Inn. There's so much to do here at Carter Pond that you need to camp here for a

| | while, Smoke Rise Campsites is a perfect site for that; there's great hiking along the Elk Lake Marcy Trail.
Just can't get enough of the Adirondack Mountains. Raymond Brook is near Carter Pond and is always a joy to pop by, and Alpine Motel is a glorious location to get some rest. Ideal Campsites is a delightful local campground.
Now, you may assume that's heaps but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Carter Pond. Very scenic scenery and tremendous skiing is what you get at Gore Mountain, and you
can run the rapids of Balm of Gilead Brook. And if that's not enough there's lots more fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Good hiking is available along the Oregon Trail; Moxham Mountain is gorgeous and can be distinguished
from here. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Clear Pond is in close proximity to Carter Pond.
High temperatures at Carter Pond all through the long summer days are in the 70's, and the night is a little colder of
course, typically in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Carter Pond drop into the 0's.
