A lake close by is Rondout Reservoir, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Seager West Branch Trail. Beer Kill River - West Branch is a good whitewater spot in the neighborhood of Cape Pond, and swamps like Cedar Swamp are fun to explore. This lake is so wonderful. At Cape Pond you always meet someone from Kingston; the Kanape Jeep Trail offers hiking at its best. Hanging Rock       Falls is a charming location to visit while you're at Cape Pond, and camping is available at Skyway Campgrounds. In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rondout Creek; there's brilliant hiking along the Vernooy Falls Trail. Through the summer months at Cape Pond temperatures are commonly in the 70's, and the night is slightly chillier of course, usually in the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in                  the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Cape Pond fall into the 10's. Nevele Grande Resort is a good place to get some rest. Cape Pond regularly gets a large amount of rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and February is the month with the least moisture. Be careful coming to Cape Pond, you might not ever want to return home again. Shawangunk Country Club is a delightful golf course close by, and a fine spot to camp here at Cape Pond is Sunshine Acres Camp & Conferen.
