Canopus Lake is a wet site that gets a large amount of rain; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is February. Summertime at Canopus Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Canopus Lake. Get your heart beating on the glorious whitewater       of Wappinger Creek; don't leave Canopus Lake without first going for a hike along the Stillwell Lake Trail. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Canopus Lake. If you came to camp Sylvan Lake Beach Park is a magnificent spot to do that, and what would winter be without some skiing at Thunder Ridge. Wiccopee Pass is a glorious location to check out nearby, and Stillwater Pond is a nearby lake that you could pop by. This lake is so wonderful. After                  a long day outdoors Residence Inn By Marriott Fishkill is a tremendous location to spend a night or two, and you can run the rapids of Popolopen Creek. While you're here at Canopus Lake, you could also take a look at gorgeous Pelton Pond, and if you need a spot to stay Holiday Inn Express FISHKILL is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Trout Creek is a stream you can stop by while you're here, and camping at Clarence Fahnestock State Park is always a great experience.
