The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby McCauley Mountain; get your pulse rate up on the tremendous whitewater of Black River - South Branch. Camping at Canachagala Lake is good fun,       Cape Woods Campground is a good local campground, and pleasant hiking is available along the Stone Dam Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Moose River - South Branch, and why not camp at Singing waters Campground while you're here at Canachagala Lake. And if that's not enough, there's a lot more to do next to Canachagala Lake. Big Rock Cottages is a wonderful place to get some rest,                  and hiking is a popular thing to do around Canachagala Lake; Party Trail is a magnificent local trail. Canachagala Lake gets a good deal of water; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month of the year is February. Dry warm beds await you at Forge Motel, and don't leave Canachagala Lake without first going for a hike along the Twin Lakes Trail. This lake is so wonderful. All through the months of summer at Canachagala Lake highs are generally in the 70's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's with temperatures at Canachagala Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. Yeah, come up here to the Adirondack Mountains for a pleasant time.
