Very friendly towns folk and this lake holds the New York State Record for a Large Mouth Bass caught in 1994. The lake is fed by many underground springs but is not ery deep. Makes for a lovely, though short drive around it. Summertime highs at Buckhorn Lake commonly tend to be in the 70's; the nighttime is somewhat cooler of course, usually in the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are typically in the 20's with temperatures at Buckhorn Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are pleasant; Oxbow Lake is a lake that's next to Buckhorn Lake; you can stay the night       at Campsite. Having a pleasant time in the Adirondack Mountains is trouble-free. Get your heart beating on the good whitewater of Piseco Outlet, and at Buckhorn Lake you always meet someone from Gloversville. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Sacandaga River - West Branch, and Pine Lake Campground and RV Park is a nice campground nearby. You think that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Take a look at nearby Dead                  Vly; nothing beats kicking back at Moffit Beach. Buckhorn Lake gets a large amount of water; most of the rain falls during August; February on the other hand is the driest. There is a great hiking trail near Buckhorn Lake called the Hamilton Mountain Fire Tower Trail, and at Buckhorn Lake you can spot Brush Mountain. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors cool things the Adirondack Mountains has to offer. This is a perfect region for people who like lakes. Lost Lake is a lake close at hand, and nearby you hit upon the Sucker Brook Trail which is a great hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful.
