OLD Forge Camping Resort is a glorious local campground, and do check out Little Diamond Pond, it's a beautiful lake. Buck Pond sees pretty high levels of rainfall; most of the rain falls through August while February is frequently the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Beaver River for all you adrenaline junkies, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Salmon Lake Trail. Buck Pond is one of the lakes here in the Adirondack

| | Mountains. Man, is there heaps of enjoyable stuff to do in the vicinity of Buck Pond. Buck Pond is a fine place to visit for more than one day, Nicks Lake Campgrounds is a fine place to camp nearby, and if you're here and you like golf, you can pop by Thendara Golf Club. These mountains rock, just check out all the amusing things to do in the Adirondack Mountains. Everybody close by loves skiing at McCauley Mountain, and do take a hike on the Big Deer Pond | |

Trail. While you're here at Buck Pond, you could also go to pretty Little Rock Pond; folks from Ogdensburg-Massena love to come here. This lake is so wonderful. Summertime highs at Buck Pond generally tend to be in the 70's while
night lows are typically in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's while Buck Pond overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's. You simply must like the Adirondack Mountains. The Norridge Trail
offers hiking at its best; whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Moose River - South Branch.

Terror Lake
 | ... drainage. Two brothers got lost up in the ridges above Terror Lake. Almost died. They found the lake and named it after their nights of terror. Guys used to hunt there in the fly in days. The last last guy to go there was a drainage ditch runner. Calls himself PH. Take his advice. It's a long way in and you MUST know the woods and be a woodsman. There are plenty of blow downs to go through overland. The way to go is via the end of Twitchell Lk. The Sisters who own the old Teahouse at the end of Twitchell are nice old girls. I saved their nephew one cold November night. They bought me some good whiskey. Anyway that's the way to get into Terror Lk. Follow the old trail into the South Branch Beaver River drainage. Head northeast for a good mile and keep the high ground to your right shoulder. Keep walking about 4 miles and make sure the big ridge is over your right shoulder. You can't miss the lake. There is an old ghost trail marked with blue soap can lids at the base of the ridge. Probably grown in by now. Don't need trails anyway. Use your Map & Compass. Don't do this trip with the ... |
Chub Pond
 | 16 miles away I love hiking back to this pond! It is absolutely beautiful! The trail was a little muddy from atv's, but the trek is worth it. the loons were incredible to watch, and once i saw the arora borealis there too!... |
Helldiver Pond
 | 17 miles away 1 PHOTO Hell Diver Pond is a pretty little body of water located in the Moose River Recreation Area of the Adirondacks. The hike back to it is easy and short. Hell Diver is well worth the walk.... |
