    Browns Reservoir is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. All the water falling down from the sky makes Browns Reservoir a wet spot; May is the wettest month with most rain; January on the other hand is the driest. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Norwalk River, and naturally, this is a perfect region for folks who like lakes, John D Milne Lake is a lake close at hand. This lake is so wonderful. A day on the  
   slopes of Thunder Ridge is just what you need; on a lovely day you get a good view of Bald Hill from Browns Reservoir.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Scotts Reservoir. There's so much to do here at Browns Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Kettletown State Park is a great spot for that. Here at Browns Reservoir there are plenty of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown. You'll need more than
 
               a day to look at everything Browns Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Mountain Workshop. Dry warm beds await you at Roger Sherman Inn (Le), and golf can be played at Pound Ridge Golf Club.
Throughout the warmest time of the year here at Browns Reservoir, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 60's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Browns Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. East Branch Comstock Brook is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking a look at, and the skiing at Woodbury is tremendous. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Browns Reservoir. If you need a location to stay Ridgefield CT Days Inn is a delightful choice, also John D Milne Dam is worth stopping at if you're here.

...stnut ridge rd.back in the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt ...
