Brown Pond is always a pleasure to visit. During the summer months at Brown Pond highs are mostly in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 50's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 20's; after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Brown Pond plunge into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. If you get bored of Brown Pond, you could also go to close by Gardner Pond, and it's a magnificent idea to go to Peaked Mountain

| | Brook. Brown Pond gets a normal amount of rain; August is the month that gets the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Courtyard Lake Placid is a tremendous place to get some rest; what would winter be without some skiing at Gore Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. Adirondack Mountains. Big Thirteenth Lake Mountain is easy to spot from Brown Pond, and Hudson River has a magnificent whitewater paddling spot close by. Yeah, come here to Brown Pond for a nice time. Stay the night at Cedar Pond
Campground, and the Oregon Trail offers hiking at its best. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. All the outdoors exciting things in the Adirondack Mountains will keep you coming back over and over. There's so
much to do here at Brown Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Smoke Rise Campsites is a magnificent place for that; Brown Pond is not the only site close by, Grassy Ponds is a close by lake.

Northville Lake Placid Trail
 | 19 miles away Not sure where Plumley's Point is but I hiked the Northville Lake Placid trail about 4 or 5 miles north from Long Lake village and it was fairly well maintained (just a little overgrowth). At one point the trail runs into a bog/pond and the wooden planks are flooded over. You must make a detour to the left and bushwack to some rocks to cross (hiked June 09)...8/14/09 I'm wondering if anyone knows the trail conditions for the Northville Lake Palcid trail from Long Lake village to near Plumley's Point-... |
