Blue Pond is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. This lake is so wonderful. Radisson Hotel Rochester Airport is a great spot to get some rest; if you come at the right time of year, Oatka Creek offers some nice whitewater. An average amount of rain falls at Blue Pond; most of the rain falls through September, and the driest month of the year is January.
All through the summertime, highs mostly are in the 80's at Blue Pond while overnight lows are

| | mostly in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Blue Pond plunge into the 10's. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors amusing things the area near Blue Pond has to offer. Why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Chili Country Club; dry warm beds await you at Rit Inn & Conference Center. Hundred Acre Pond has numerous fish species present, including Northern Pike, Yellow Perch, Sunfish, Largemouth Bass, Brown Bullhead and a few Chain Pickerel. The pond is generally shallow, with extensive weed beds extending almost to the surface in most places. Several open pockets are available however, and the water is quite clear. ...EW TRAIL: MAVERICK
We once again rolled out the bulldozer and cut a new trail! ''MAVERICK'' is an intermediate run that is a quarter mile long and averages 180 feet wide. The West Woods trail expansion has grown Swain Resort's trail system by over 12% in skiable acres with more to come!
In Bina Robinson's book about the founding of Swain Resort (With Our Own Four Hands, available at Amazon.com) there was mention of ''Last Will'' originally being named ''Last Will and Testament.'' With last year's trail expansion opening the possibility for Snowriders to bypass the steep part of Last Will and continue further down, we have taken the opportunity to bring back ''Testament'' as a blue square that can be accessed from either the ''Last Will'' headwall or from what is now ''The Pass'' and ''Fool's Gold'' in keeping with our West Woods theme. In addition to ''Maverick'' the new cut-through between Maverick and Twister will be a blue square called ''Bandit's Pass''.
