     This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water close by, Cherry Creek is a stream you can take a look at while here, and everybody nearby loves skiing at McCauley Mountain. The Adirondack Mountains scenery is always beautiful. There are wonderful sites to explore along the Stone Dam Trail; Singing waters Campground is a great local campground.

   Hitchock Pond which is a beautiful lake, and Blue Pond is a glorious location to visit for more than one day, Nicks Lake Campgrounds is a glorious location to camp nearby. If you like the outdoors you'll like it here in the Adirondack Mountains. Near Blue Pond you stumble on the Salmon Lake Trail which is a delightful hiking trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Beaver River offers some great whitewater. For the duration of the summer at Blue Pond temperatures  
               are commonly in the 70's. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Blue Pond fall into the 0's.
This location, the Adirondack Mountains, has so much outdoors cool things. The slopes of Snow Ridge are so inviting nobody can resist. Going for a hike on the Norridge Trail is always a magnificent adventure; there are other places here than Blue Pond, for example Hitchcock Pond. The high level of precipitation makes Blue Pond a quite wet place; the month with most of the rain is August; February is the month with the least moisture.

85 years ago my mother who lived in Brooklyn spent her vacations at Lake Twitchell,she said once she went to the adirondacks she never went back to the catskills. I got up this morning and thought of her conversations about the lake and decided to look it up, I hope it's still as beautiful as she described it so many years ago,I still have her snap shots....

Terror Lake

... the Beaver river drainage. Two brothers got lost up in the ridges above Terror Lake. Almost died. They found the lake and named it after their nights of terror. Guys used to hunt there in the fly in days. The last last guy to go there was a drainage ditch runner. Calls himself PH. Take his advice. It's a long way in and you MUST know the woods and be a woodsman. There are plenty of blow downs to go through overland. The way to go is via the end of Twitchell Lk. The Sisters who own the old Teahouse at the end of Twitchell are nice old girls. I saved their nephew one cold November night. They bought me some good whiskey. Anyway that's the way to get into Terror Lk. Follow the old trail into the South Branch Beaver River drainage. Head northeast for a good mile and keep the high ground to your right shoulder. Keep walking about 4 miles and make sure the big ridge is over your right shoulder. You can't miss the lake. There is an old ghost trail marked with blue soap can lids at the base of the ridge.
