Do check out John Pond close to Black Pond, it's a beautiful lake, and why not go to nearby Leetown Brook if you're here at Black Pond. While you're here at Black Pond you can play some golf at Branton Woods Golf Club, and camping at Black Pond is wonderful fun, Sylvan Lake Beach Park is a wonderful local campground. Black Pond gets a common amount of rainfall; May is the month that gets the most rain while       February is frequently the driest month. The Appalachian National Scenic Trail offers hiking at its best; a delightful nearby hotel is Residence Inn By Marriott Fishkill. This lake is so wonderful. Drift down the rapids of Wappinger Creek in a kayak, and on a beautiful day you get a splendid sight of Hosner Mountain from Black Pond. Summer at Black Pond comes with high temperatures in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's generally in the 60's. Daytime                  highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Black Pond dip into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Black Pond is a wonderful location to camp, Clarence Fahnestock State Park is a wonderful location. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors fun things the area in the neighborhood of Black Pond has to offer. Gotta ski! Thunder Ridge is a great spot to do that, and if you come at the right time of year, Tenmile offers some good whitewater.
