You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun things in the Adirondack Mountains. Soar down the rapids of Boquet River in a kayak, and Mount Discovery is picturesque and can be seen from here. The amount of rain that falls at Big Pond is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest month is February. If only every site had this much       outdoors cool stuff, what a great world it would be. Going for a hike along the Stimson Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and Big Pond is a great site to visit for more than one day, Magic Pines Family Camp Grounds is a great site to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Camp Normandie, and dry warm beds await you at Microtel Inn and Suites Plattsburgh. That right there is plenty of enjoyable things already but it                  goes on, the Adirondack Mountains has it all. While you're here at Big Pond you can take a hike along the Leach Trail, and do take a look at Mud Pond, it's a pretty lake. Through the warm months at Big Pond temperatures are frequently in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and night lows all through the wintertime for Big Pond tend to be in the 0's. After a long day outdoors Basin Harbor Club is a great place to spend a night or two, and Ore Bed Pond is a nearby lake that you could pop by. This lake is so wonderful. A quick journey to Burpee Brook near Big Pond is a tremendous idea; while you're here and you like golf, you can pop by Westport Country Club. Hiking along the Weston Trail is perfect fun, and swamps don’t sound that tremendous but McGrae Swamp close to Big Pond is rather tremendous.
