If you like lakes and you're in this part of New York you can check out Bear Swamp. Ten Mile River is a brilliant whitewater spot right next door to Bear Swamp, and this is a perfect location in the shadow of the Sharp Hills. Summer at Bear Swamp arrives with high temperatures in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Bear Swamp. This lake is so wonderful. Do check out Ore Pond right next door to Bear Swamp, it's a delightful lake. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Bear Swamp has to offer, you can camp at Sylvan Lake Beach Park. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Tenmile, and an afternoon playing golf at Dutcher Golf Course is always a pleasure.
This lake is so wonderful. You get a nice sight of Bald Mountain
from Bear Swamp. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Bear Swamp; through May this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. There's so much to do here at Bear Swamp that you need to camp here for
a while, Kettletown State Park is a tremendous location for that, and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a pleasant hiking trail nearby.
