Lakes are tremendous; Munson Pond is a lake that's next to Bear Ridge Lake, and you can stay the night at Camp Echo Lake. Bear Ridge Lake gets a lot of water; throughout the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is January. Not far from Bear Ridge Lake, you'll hit upon Tercia Pond which is a gorgeous lake; swing by Nanny Hagen Brook it's a tremendous spot to visit. This lake is so wonderful. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn & Suites, and there are plenty of folks from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown here. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Bear Ridge Lake; Appalachian National Scenic Trail is a nice local trail, and on a lovely day you get a perfect vista of Chappaqua Hill from Bear Ridge Lake. The warmest time of the year at Bear Ridge Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Through the wintertime
highs are regularly in the 30's; night lows at Bear Ridge Lake during the wintertime usually dip into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Bear Ridge Lake has to offer, you can camp at Soundview Sports, and get your heart pumping on the good whitewater of Popolopen Creek.

... the late sixties ,and every Christmas the people of the surrounding lk. There were none on the east side of the lake at the time. Well we would collect our Christmas trees around fifty or so and dig them into the ice about forty ft apart and make two rows . Then we would all set a time and light em,, and we would skate , fish ,whatever the lines of trees ran from the n.west dock to the east..the clam bakes were held at the other lk..haven just up the stream that ran along my house..After the dam broke from lk haven the water flooded down into our house..What a flood..seems after that we sold the house to a fireman ,,and then our course by accident the house burnt down ,,and I thought fireman were supposed to put out fires not start em .hello to all that still prevail on chestnut ridge. yea I also went to school with Henry Winkler.. And back then we used to trick or treat all the way down to route six..camp sycamore well I still have my green card with the red paper wonder if its still good..the camp was but a lake with a cottage or two..and a cool as heck dirt road..I went to Austin... |
