    If you are in Herkimer county it's always a good idea to stop by Bear Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Adirondack Mountains. The Twin Lakes Trail offers hiking at its best, and Middle Branch Moose River is close to Bear Lake and is always a bliss to pop by. For the period of the summer at Bear Lake temperatures are frequently in the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures  
   at Bear Lake dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights.
This lake is so wonderful. What would winter be without some skiing at Woods Valley; the panorama of beautiful Neejer Hill is great. Yeah, come here to Bear Lake for a great time. Camping is available at Kayuta Lake Campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Bear Lake; Stone Dam Trail is a glorious local trail.
There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Adirondack Mountains.
 
               The slopes of McCauley Mountain are so inviting noone can resist, and a wonderful place for whitewater paddling is Moose River - Middle Branch. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Forty Mountain Trail, and if you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Moose River. So many fun things to do in the Adirondack Mountains, not enough time. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Sunset Inn, and Coleman Dam is a location that is near Bear Lake.
Bear Lake gets a lot of water; August is the wettest month with most rain while February is regularly the driest month. A perfect site to camp here at Bear Lake is Singing waters Campground, and a lake nearby is Squirrel Ponds.
